your bride

ah, that you should go
and I should stand here in the snow

Pictures falling all in shreds
depicting the life we could have led

would I be any happier then?
would I be any happier then?

If I had worn a dress of white
and lain with you on our wedding night
would I be your happy bride?

ah, that you should go
and I should stand here in the snow
counting tears that glitter and shine
and adorn me like a proper bride
for each one has kissed my chilly cheek
and each one here belongs to me

you asked me once to be your wife
to take a place within your life
you held me once in your arms
and you held a girl's unbroken heart

but the trusting flower of my youth
has been crushed and crumpled from
misuse

and now those petals
grace my hair
aren't I pretty
aren't I fair

I who wear this mascaraed
I who wear this garish face

and all that night
that you proposed
never did you say
what I needed to know

said I was pretty
I was smart
you never said I had your
heart

Twas a blessing then I guess
that you should go
and I should stay here in the snow

better then to let you go
than be your pretty little bride
and cry my diamond tears at night
