Dreams Astray

Afraid to fly? Just my size.
I'll try them on maybe once but probably twice.
They fit me perfect that you see, but I need more skin. I need to breathe.
Silence so loud I can hear my mind break, what is real and what is fake?
Never will I know, and never will I show, the scared little girl crying out "mommy please don't go".
I need you here more than ever right now. What happened to the promises, what happened to the crown?
Those princess shoes that you threw away, just like my dreams, you lead me astray.
Forgiveness is key, that only I behold, I clench so tight it turns to gold.
I've got it in lock, I've already turned the key, but what's next for me.
Because I still can't seem to breathe.
