Chance Meeting

'Hello Stranger!'
You call to me from across the road,
Despite my blatant action
Of turning my back on you.

'Shit, shit, shit' I mutter.
I turn back to face you,
You ruffle my hair,
Put one hand in one cheek,
Pull my face towards you,
To air kiss me.

The pretention of it.

The first time you've said a word to me
In 4 months.
The first time you've touched me,
In over 2 years,
Yet the spark was just the same,
Ruffling my hair,
Reminded me of when you were pulling it,
Running your fingers through it,
Groaning my name.

The hand on the side of my face burns,
Rips me apart,
Brings back the last time you had your hand there,
When it wasn't just an air kiss,
When your teeth bit my lower lip,
Your hand stroked down past my jawline,
Over my neck,
Brushing across my collarbone...

It's at this point I realise,
I should probably respond to the
'Hello stranger'
With something other than muttered cuss words.
So I mumble a perfunctory greeting.
You carry on rabbiting away,
I'm lost in my dream world,
Where you didn't let go of my hair,
Didn't stop kissing me,
Wouldn't take your hand away.
Where you never chose someone else,
Where you never lied,
Where you never brushed me off
As casually as you just ruffled my hair.
As casually as you just pretentiously air kissed me.

'Well, I've got to go.
Been nice chatting.'
We were chatting?
I'm not consciously aware of having said one word,
Just eagerly awaiting your casual touch
Just once more.
Please...

As you walk away, I stand there,
Watching you leave again.
Getting angry.
You've just played me again.
I was too busy remembering
A drunken fumble,
To get my closure.
