Every Moment

Eighteen years of fighting, smiling, figuring out life
finally starting to realize my fate is different
than the paths I've been told to follow
I don't want to be a carbon-copy of perfection
it's not possible nor probable, and I don't wish to try
too long I've been living that delusion
so I try to focus on right here and now

If I just open up my heart and let destiny in
maybe amazing things will come my way
every moment, I face another chance to prove them wrong
every moment, I have an opportunity to chase my star
across the sky and past the sun, one day I may fly
away from here, into the atmosphere, where the brightest belong
and then I will never fall, I'll rise high above them all
they'll watch me glow from down below
every moment, I just have to remember
my time has just not yet come

Days and nights spent pondering, wishing, struggling
little by little I see them begin to let me go
dancing farther away from the thin lines I balanced on
reaching out further toward tomorrow
fate is closer and hopefully I'll keep my strength intact
so soon I'll be living out my fantasy
so I strive to concentrate on my dreams
