Ode To A Horsechestnut Tree

No tree compares to you
within miles around.
On a street corner
spreading joy to all those
you greet.
As for me, I bow down to your majesty

Sweeping strokes of vibrant green
and white blossom highlights
drip with the freshness of spring
softening the urban landscape.

In the silence of a moonless night
when sleep refuses entry,
I listen to the rustling of your dress
sweep across the street.
Then I dream,
you are keeping a watchful eye over me,
and I bow down to your majesty.

Sometimes the brute force of nature
blows with murderous intentions,
howling and screaming'
trying to loosen your foundations.

But you refuse to be toppled by nature's bandits,
unleashing the full strength of an army
from within your dark trunk.
And this is why I bow down to your majesty.
