Lone Samurai Moon

I remember it all too well
Like it was yesterday
How the wind felt that day
Blowing through the grass
How the trees rattled
Dropping leaves by
Like a flock of birds flying to the horizon
The sun slowly setting on the horizon
The sound of air escaping from this mans neck
A faint hiss over the sound of the wind
Him hold it and wincing in pain
As the blood streamed through his fingers
Just past his fingertips
He could not stop it
Just prior to this my sword
Flashing through the sun
Blinding this man for a second before he could strike
Directly after unsheathing and taking two steps ahead
Slicing through him
Tearing from him life
I was 17
I whipped the blade towards the ground
Releasing the blood from the blade
Releasing this mans soul with it
He fell at that exact moment
I was a strong practitioner of Iaido
He was a master and my elder
I returned my sword to its scabbard
I remember the smell of the air that day
Like fresh rain
I remember a tear rolled down from my eye
The first man I ever killed
Not the last
My name was Moon
and I thought I would never die
The waves crashing
Like my heart
