sitting empty in retreat,
hermetic, ascetic peace,
vacuous nothing, nothing to think,
driven to read, driven to drink.
distant dream, the things i'd like to,
someone to know and someone to write to,
to drink coffee, share a cigarette,
to pour whisky, uninhibited sex.
idle coast, driven out,
life to live, to write about,
spilt coffee, dropped cigarette,
undrunk whisky, nothing left.
