I'm Only Looking For You...

Alright alright... I forced myself to post at least one love poem in the first twenty postings, before I begin posting samples from my other notebooks/phases.  I didn't really have anything suitable from the current notebook I'm drawing from - originally I was going to post something much different than the above, something much quite silly.  But when I went onto the site to just quickly post it, I saw in my profile update that a member had commented on one of my other poems, and then going over to read the work she had posted, I was blown away, and so after that I just couldn't be posting something so substandard! I was committed to posting a love poem, so I couldn't back out of it.

I had woken up around 12:30am after passing out earlier that evening in my clothes on the motel bed with the lights on - and so then languished on the bed in a half-wake/half-dead state for the next four hours trying to fix it up, a line showing up every so often.  Basically the first 6 lines are the only thing from the original poem - the rest, I just drifted away...

I suppose I was feeling a bit emotional, as it was to be slated in my workplace the next day (of which I would have to be waking up at 6:00am for), that since I was the nimblest-weighted of the crew, I was to be taking one for the team, by being rigged up to straps and atv four-wheeler winch cables and walking out onto several hundred feet wide ponds and chiseling holes into ice about 3 inches thick, which from previous walkings over other smaller ponds, the ice was wont to crackling off into hundreds of jagged little lines as you walked across it, accompanied by the appropriate unnerving ice-crackling sound effect.  Although the ponds were likely no more than 6-7 feet deep at most, it was still enough to bring back the ole reminiscences of mortality.  So that explains how the poem came about!

I may or may not post the poem in it's original and quite different form later on, depending on how I feel, and on what kind of poems I read from others on the day...

Generally speaking, I look at love poems with much aghastness.  I have, admittedly, committed the deed of writing them in the past, and certainly a few long ones to past lovers, whose eyes most likely rolled while reading them.  But here I will have to force myself to post them, like forcing myself to drink 1.5 to 3.5 litres of water per day, or standing about with the shoulders back in good posture, etc... I'll probably end up posting one love poem per every twenty to forty pieces, but no promises!  If you demand of me to post more, I'll somewhat oblige - and if you think I'm starting to post too many, then I'll DEFINITELY STOP!

I shouldn't be too hard on love poems though - Love and Seduction are the primary fires of Poetry, whether it be a longing for the carnal endowments, or the Spiritual WellSpring.  I mean without Love and Seduction in Poetry, we are only left with (besides the utilitarian functions of Spiritual Lesson or social activism), multitudes of dotty observations of menial daily nuances, such as the souping up of our morning breakfast cereals and the ever-infinitely-increasing lint collecting inside our shoes...

I suppose we could be madly in love with all the daily nuances too...
