Let it pass
I calmly sit, I talk and laugh, you catch my eye
You know better, I am dead and you know it.
You whisper and ask, I smile and I lie
You nod and grimace, you let it pass
I cook and I clean, you visit and see
You look in my eyes and say: “you’re getting skinny”
I smile and I laugh “thanks I mean to”
You purse your lips but you let it pass
You tell me of your pain and I feel I can say
I understand, you look and your hurt reflects
You hug me and say, I know you do
You hold me and we let it pass
I sit and I work, unable to breathe
You phone and you ask, how is today
I smile and I laugh, the day is great!
You get all quiet and you let it pass
I put down the phone and whispering, say:
I trusted before, I let him in, I spoke
I shared it all, I withheld no hurt
I opened up wild and free and we broke
Apart.
He ran away
I know it is for the best. It isn’t safe for him and me
To exist
My love...
It isn’t safe for you
I break all that I touch
