Image for the poem Dragon

Dragon

Unseen by a thousand naked eyes

The Dragon flies low in this city tonight

Scales on his belly nearly scraping concrete

Massive the beast though he glides with supernatural ease

He is not here to look at the beauty of people

Interests laying in the bounty of electrical lights

Soaking up the metropolitan luminescence for a thin brush of comfort for his sight

He longs for the one, she lives inside the sun

He cannot reach her by virtue of the creature he has become

Known to hover in dead space as close as he can withstand

Holding his breath for years with her image in a silver pendant

Many feel the strong wind of his presence though would never suspect

The saber like talons slicing the air nearly missing their neck

Energy building at the core in a deep sorrow as he continues to hover

He needs to hear her words in order to recover

Having seen the world out live it's need for poets, sonatas and rituals for the moon

He hangs on strongly though needs to hear her voice very soon
