FOBBIDDEN LAKE
Down by the forbidden lake
Where we once laughed and played
And flung our fragile bodies through the air
Somersaulting and dive bombing into that watery womb
Then lying on silky grass
squelching mud between our toes
And making shapes from endless clouds
But them days are gone
Them days beneath the sun
Now concrete posts stand like soviet border guards
and barb wire fences scream "thy shall not pass"
Where we once laughed and played
And flung our fragile bodies through the air
Somersaulting and dive bombing into that watery womb
Then lying on silky grass
squelching mud between our toes
And making shapes from endless clouds
But them days are gone
Them days beneath the sun
Now concrete posts stand like soviet border guards
and barb wire fences scream "thy shall not pass"
