To Me a Tree Smiled or Forever Spring
To me, a tree smiled today.
This came to pass, a special way.
When I turned and looked around,
surprised I saw another frown.
I spoke aloud to the one of grin.
"What do you suppose is wrong with him?"
No words were spoke, I felt a sigh.
This is what I heard with my minds eye.
"Everyday we touch the sun.
In soul and mind, we know we're one.
A thought, a breeze, landscaping mind.
Stationary change of fixed design.
We stood and watched a million times,
the hate and fear of mankinds crimes.
No tears to shed, but if we had,
we'd water ourselves from being sad.
A mourning song, the earths lament.
A plea for help, but none is sent.
Hope remains for man to heal.
But instead he continues to steal.
This hope is the only thing
that returns my leaves in coming springs
Growing them strong and green,
Mankind in harmony with everything.
Living in forever spring.
