Mojave Moon (Sonnet)
Sometimes I'm convinced you will forget me
But I think you wait in the Mojave
A mindless spirit flooded with moonlight
And I know that I'll find you there some night
Maybe you'll find those old letters someday
And try to tell yourself that you're OK
And you won't know, but I threw yours away
Yet here I wish I could read them today
I know you feel it as well as I do
A thick blue haze from which we can't pull through
And the night presses itself on your chest
Without a breath, you silently confess
That you recall the love of an old friend
As the Mojave Moon turns full again
But I think you wait in the Mojave
A mindless spirit flooded with moonlight
And I know that I'll find you there some night
Maybe you'll find those old letters someday
And try to tell yourself that you're OK
And you won't know, but I threw yours away
Yet here I wish I could read them today
I know you feel it as well as I do
A thick blue haze from which we can't pull through
And the night presses itself on your chest
Without a breath, you silently confess
That you recall the love of an old friend
As the Mojave Moon turns full again
