RUN
I had to run, I had to run away
From everything, from myself
From the person I was going to be
Where I was going, I didn’t care
As long as I was free
What was I leaving behind?
A girlfriend that was a runaway herself
A poor person as a friend
A girl that blamed me for her pregnancy
A dead job that made me depressed
And the beatings of my parents
Verbal and otherwise
What was there to lose?
A lot…
A lot of nothing
What was out there to gain?
The whole world
So I ran
I’m still running in some sense, gaining the whole world
Strange at it may seem, I’m never running home
Always running.
