Perfection
Perfection, my unattainable art.
Lost within the skin of my humanity, within the taste of my words
In my love,
Which perfection would surely shatter
For where is the connection when there is nothing to create
No shapes to learn and strengthen
Together and apart
To learn from one another.
No, perfection in its vital sense
Happily eludes me
So my skin will gladly shatter
And my scars recreate themselves
But oh to accept perfection
And it’s wonderful temptation
Would leave me with nothing
Nothing to love, or hold on to
As it is only the mistakes of my life,
The accidents of my body
The lack of my objective beauty
That lets me live
Live by me
And see the darkness which sheds from my imperfection
The disgrace, the riot of my body
The beat of my desire
For the sin, the dirt, the pain.
And dance with me to its ragged rhythms.
Beat by beat like maddened drunks
Across cobble stoned pathways.
Scar me with your love,
Caress me with your fire
And laugh with me,
At the beauty of it all.
Lost within the skin of my humanity, within the taste of my words
In my love,
Which perfection would surely shatter
For where is the connection when there is nothing to create
No shapes to learn and strengthen
Together and apart
To learn from one another.
No, perfection in its vital sense
Happily eludes me
So my skin will gladly shatter
And my scars recreate themselves
But oh to accept perfection
And it’s wonderful temptation
Would leave me with nothing
Nothing to love, or hold on to
As it is only the mistakes of my life,
The accidents of my body
The lack of my objective beauty
That lets me live
Live by me
And see the darkness which sheds from my imperfection
The disgrace, the riot of my body
The beat of my desire
For the sin, the dirt, the pain.
And dance with me to its ragged rhythms.
Beat by beat like maddened drunks
Across cobble stoned pathways.
Scar me with your love,
Caress me with your fire
And laugh with me,
At the beauty of it all.
