Day of Saint Valentine

Come closer my children,
And to you I shall tell,
The tale of a day more gruesome than All Hallows Eve.
Hiding its true nature beneath laughter and joy,
The Terror of Saint Valentine is again upon us.

Poor, naïve, innocent children,
You shake your little heads not knowing the truth.
You call me cynical, heartless and cold.
Perhaps you are right but I have seen,
Ah! I have seen,
Oh! Have I seen,
The shadows that lurk within our mist.

But children you need not believe me,
For Shakespeare, himself, proves me right.
Was love not the poison that brought down poor Romeo.
And was love not the knife that cut through the heart of dear Juliet.

Dear children, love is fire.
And while it warms,
It also burns and consumes.
So children, please, play with care.
Lest you face the fate of dear Romeo,
And beautiful Juliet.
