Sands of Time

I stand before you breaking apart
Yet it’s you who sheds tears
You express in words your desires
Yet you allow them to be ruled by fears

I’ve torn apart all I knew
To show you what could be
I’ve given you the needs you sought
And you leave me drowning in misery

How do you expect me to be?
On my heart –you left a deep stain
That seems to be getting darker and darker
Do you expect me to be the same?

Our eyes use to shine like the sun
Now I watch you drift into the shadows
With it you take all that I am
Leaving me standing her viciously hollow

I see our once unbreakable bond
Tearing slowly as each moment continues to pass
As you allow it to happen -- imprisoned by fear
The sand is running quickly through the hour glass

And all that we built from the ground up
Will return back to the earths dust
You will have the life you’ve chosen
While I’m left with a heart not even I can trust.
