I don't think you can sense my hand on your shoulder as you sleep
That's not what matters
I can feel you breathing beside me
I twirl my fingers through the sun stroked plains of your back
Hoping not to wake you
Counting the seconds between your heartbeats
And the collapsing of your chest
My limbs only want to slide down beside you
But you are so peaceful
And I only wish to stare as you extend your stay with the sky
I consider lifting my hand
Realizing it is magnetized to your nearly still frame
And I don't think you sense my hand on your shoulder as you sleep
That's not what matters
I am beside you
I have no need to be anywhere else
That's not what matters
I can feel you breathing beside me
I twirl my fingers through the sun stroked plains of your back
Hoping not to wake you
Counting the seconds between your heartbeats
And the collapsing of your chest
My limbs only want to slide down beside you
But you are so peaceful
And I only wish to stare as you extend your stay with the sky
I consider lifting my hand
Realizing it is magnetized to your nearly still frame
And I don't think you sense my hand on your shoulder as you sleep
That's not what matters
I am beside you
I have no need to be anywhere else
