Attack of the heart x
There's this man
He's skin leathery
His hair grey
Always has a smile
And joke of the day
He has worked hard all his life
Sweating in the Australian heat
No riches were earned
Just enough to make ends meet
Food on the table
Shoes on his kids feet
There's this woman
She's not as toned as she once was
Her skin droopy
It's been a rough trot
Her legs show blue veins
Each one represent a different pressure
She slaved in the home
all her life
For the family she treasures
Some mornings it's hard to lift her feet out of bed
But she does it anyway
She's a trooper
Shuffles along in her slippers of red
Walks out to the worn kitchen
And looks at her husband
He's sitting at the table
With his coffee and morning paper
The lines under his eyes
Have deepened again
And she feels blessed
To have a lifetime with this man
He looks up at her and says
Good morning chook
Come on love I'm starving
You no I can't cook
She smiles and walks over to prepare his breakfast
And even after all these years
He leans over and smacks her ass
She giggles like she did 40 years ago
And says go get some pants on you old fool
Breakfast will be ready soon
He laughs with the huskiness
She knows so well
Alright chooky
Bloody hell
As he rises from his chair
She takes in that old spice familiar smell
And just as he rises
He clutches his chest
Falls to his knees
And said
Love ring an ambulance
Panicked she calls one
Then puts the phone down
She kneels by his side
All is quiet now
As he lays In her arms
Her tears fall on his robe
She kisses his
Cheeks
Kisses his nose
Please don't leave me
I'm not ready yet
You said you'd be here
Look it's time for breakfast
He looks at her with his hand still placed on his heart
And says chooky
It's my time
I love you sweet heart
He takes a breath
And gives her a wink
Before she can move
She knows she's lost him ...
This man that she's loved
Her entire life
Is no longer by her side
..... Blessed
But out of time
He's skin leathery
His hair grey
Always has a smile
And joke of the day
He has worked hard all his life
Sweating in the Australian heat
No riches were earned
Just enough to make ends meet
