Nicotine (Love/Drug Poem)

You're like a cigarette.

I know it's terrible for my health, but my mind just keeps wandering back to you.

Whenever I see other people taking you in I get a craving,
but I don't want you...I don't need you.

You're a dirty habit I can't stop indulging.

The smell lingers more and more with every breath I take.

Every thought of you reinforces the habit, continue picking the scab and it will never go away.

My hands are stained from touching you, from holding you while you burned. A reminder of what has come and gone, a reminder of what I lost.

My lungs are sore from screaming your name. Desperately exhaling what I can of you, but I know the worst parts still remain.

You're the black tar that sticks to me making it impossible to catch my breath. Weakening me to the point of hopelessness.

I should be the one in control, but I can't seem to stop letting you in.
