Empath
My winning entry to the Lonely In A Crowded World competition, I am deeply appreciative to those who voted.
Walking into a crowded room,
this is easier said than done.
The immediate deluge of energy,
pressing hotly against my skin;
constricting the space in my head.
Hearing every conversation, yet none,
casual chatter becomes white noise;
audio dyslexically twisting my brain.
Alien emotions perculate in my chest,
and suddenly I feel deeply saddened.
The unexpected rising of naked grief,
overwhelming and all consuming.
It is too much I need to breathe.
Sure that this feeling is not my own
I retreat to splash water and... Be.
