This one got me with the second line. There is something compelling about it, the way it is written that brings my eyes back to it.

When I look at the whole poem as a picture instead of line by line, I see: "volatile consumption" and "curious eyes devour you in the dark." I realize for the first time with shorter poems that one can paint a picture with the poem such that the eyes read words going together from different lines.

I enjoy this poem reading it line by line and thank you as it gave me the clear sense of "reading" it as a picture. :)

You picked my favourite line... I've never written shorter poems before, but this site has so many great writers, it's easy to be 'risky'. Fewer words need to paint a stronger picture.
