Because it Hurts
Don’t you ever say I just walked away,
Just look and see - you pushed me.
Running out of breath,
Needing a helping hand
But you never came for me!
I've been needing your help for so long
But no matter how loud I yelled.
You never heard me.
And you never will.
It’s like being in a pool
And starting to drown.
Screaming for somebody’s attention
But nobody hears.
So I just go down.
And down.
And down.
The cold, unforgiving light
Pushes its way out of me and leaves for good
As the water takes its place.
All life has not had the chance to be forgiven
By the ones who take their lives.
All because it hurt.
The one last cut,
Or one last dive.
They never understood her for what she is
Or how she lives
Or that they are the cause for the cuts.
Just look and see - you pushed me.
Running out of breath,
Needing a helping hand
But you never came for me!
I've been needing your help for so long
But no matter how loud I yelled.
You never heard me.
And you never will.
It’s like being in a pool
And starting to drown.
Screaming for somebody’s attention
But nobody hears.
So I just go down.
And down.
And down.
The cold, unforgiving light
Pushes its way out of me and leaves for good
As the water takes its place.
All life has not had the chance to be forgiven
By the ones who take their lives.
All because it hurt.
The one last cut,
Or one last dive.
They never understood her for what she is
Or how she lives
Or that they are the cause for the cuts.
