I always pride myself on being blunt so here are the edits that I would personally make.
'Reading books?
A waste of time.
I live my life
so people can write about mine.
I take wild chances.
Just say what's on your mind,
you wont regret
what you might find.' It works but I think reading books helps us reflect, expand our view of the world so we make take only the truest wild chances. You have to be safe in some way and a book offers a thousand words[and more] of wisdom.

I find it shallow and egotistical.living your life so people can write about yours?..lol..well impress me then with why it is so special that someone would want to write about it. And reading other's perspectives not only broaden's yours, but helps you to reflect in SILENCE, where real wisdom lies. You aren't going to get the wisdom regardless or apply it if it's not already in your own awareness to begin with.
