Drip
The kind of rain
still dripping from leaves
late the next morning
and into the afternoon
the overhanging porch
dumping runoff water
refreshing shingles and posts
holding up the west side
my grandmothers backyard
dripping rains from
every branch, every needle
evergreens, tall conifers
potted plants straining
for sips of rain
the beautiful flowers
standing with the last water
still dripping from leaves
late the next morning
and into the afternoon
the overhanging porch
dumping runoff water
refreshing shingles and posts
holding up the west side
my grandmothers backyard
dripping rains from
every branch, every needle
evergreens, tall conifers
potted plants straining
for sips of rain
the beautiful flowers
standing with the last water
