A life uncommon

A life uncommon.
How do you live it when it's so restricted
to common
to baby's bottles
and hockey practice
and pen to paper and
financial aid
when the jungle calls
and the freedom
of the fight is pulling at your soul
and your sickness
and your children's faces
juxtaposed on the tear-filled faces
the blood-stained faces of the children
and the crying mothers and suicide bombs
and the bandaid on the stump
A life uncommon.
where the road diverges
and the choice is simple
and not a minefield
but a field of poppies
undisturbed
by the greed of the suffering
A life uncommon.
Pipe dream.
