Your Treasure

I’m not tired of being alive, I’m tired of never being dead
I’m not tired of being here, I’m tired of never being there
I’m not tired of being hurt, I’m tired of never feeling a thing
I’m not tired of being me, I’m tired of never being you

I can’t wait for you, You never waited for me
I can’t hope with all I am that you’ll hope I’ll survive
I can’t consume all I am to give you my everything
This love wasn’t made to be, It was made to be broken

We were destined for each other, For each other to be slaughtered inside
You swear our souls belong together, I swear our souls were never alive
We were born to be so much more, So much more than wasting away
You swear our hearts belong as one, I swear our hearts belong apart

I forgot what it was like to breathe, Smothered by a love I prayed for
Was I foolish enough to hope it was better, Or foolish enough to not care
I forgot what it was like to feel, Numbed by a needle you handed me
Was I young enough to hope it gets better, Or young enough to never care

I won’t succumb to your careless words, Or careless touches to my arm
You can’t control me anymore, I am not your pet to be thrown around
I won’t bow to your throne, Or kiss the jewels upon your hand
You can’t own me anymore, I am not your treasure to be stored away
