Long Time Gone
He says he wishes I had waited for him
Pussy popping in dim clubs
Sun beating me home
he waited
and me
I showed no love
And him
He held out to see
put him through six hells
but he stayed
Because the woman he saw in his dreams was me
Misguided Wilding out
Swaying with moving crowds
Lost
He sought me
found me broken and unresponsive
revived me unselfishly
refused to let go
because the woman he saw in his dreams was me
Spirit to free to settle
feet hitting that well beaten path
again
in sweet lull of night I left
light kiss on his cheek
hand across his face
and I floated away
Losing myself again
I reached out
hands ashen from the journey
soul sick and weary
I looked for the man
I knew as my safety
And him
peeking through foggy glass
I saw him
and her
He lay in her arms
and he kissed her hands
and she loved him
loved him like I should have
loved him like my young mind refused
and all of that I had to lose
to finally see
that woman he was with
should have been me
