liquid love

The rain beats down upon the ground, sending the smell of damp earth.
I can almost feel it, as if beating upon my chest.
The sorrow from above meets the sorrow from below.
Wetness fills my eyes and greets the rain with every blink.
The passion overflows within my heart.
A love expected to diminish has only prospered.
A laugh escapes my lips even as I try to supress it.
Memories so strong- like watching them on continuous rewind.
Confusion is the most prevalent feeling.
Words continue to flow and spew forth.
Yet all the words in the world cannot convey the sense of disconnect in me.
A tug-of-war relationship exists between us two.
You say, "I love you." I say, "Thanks."
I say, "I love you." You say, "Ok."
If our words were weapons we would long have been dead.
How annoying it is, that our love betrayed us.
The rain has since stopped.
The only sound- a liquid love that fills my eyes
