Societal Disillusions

Lately I hear
all these problems
that have just recently appeared

10 year olds smoking that dope
11 year olds losing all hope
12 year olds skipping dinner
just hoping it makes them thinner

13 year olds with anxiety
14 year olds popping E
15 year olds with depression
all drugged out and lacking expressions

16 year olds sniffing that snow
17 year olds with 3 year olds
18 years old with no home
and feeling so alone

19 years and ready to quit
20 year old with no hope
21 year old addicted to alcohol
and everything else

when did they world get so cold?
when did everyone start to lose hope?
why have these problems started?
or have they always been there?
I choose to be optimistic
I choose to believe in humanity
I choose to leave this world a better place
than when I arrived
I choose to find the good in everyone's eyes.
