The Panther

Stoned, I wandered, weak and weary
Snow and ice out, cold and dreary
I walked out of a nearby clearing
Fall of darkness I was fearing
Then I saw a creature nearing
Black as night, it's eyes were searing
Gazed into my very soul
As I sat and packed a bowl
For I did not give a fuck
So far my life had really sucked

"Fuck you" said I, as I ignored
The panther creeping on all fours
Stoned, I was, down to my core
And hungover from the night before

The creature didn't seem to notice
Somehow I was out of focus
Stray dog nearby, the creature stalked
That I approached as I had walked

It seemed the dog was unaware
Of the creature lurking there
It squatted down to take a shit
The panther pounced on top of it

It sat and marveled at my luck
But also wondered what the fuck
Of my presence unaware
I got the fuck up out of there

When I got home, I checked my phone
Sat by the fire and warmed my bones
Thought of the mercy I was shown
In woods unarmed and all alone
