This poem is average
I guess I've always been average,
Or so society would tell me.
Academically, physically, socially.
On average
2.5 million people were born this week
I believe each one of them
Is truly unique
That means, You are too
You are You
And no one else can come close too.
If this is true, then
Most of us must unfortunately choose to
Suppress how special we really are
We subscribe to someone else's behavior
'Cus it's easier to imitate
Then to create ones self from scratch.
To discover exactly who you are.
We're too busy trying to fit in
When we should be fulfillin' ourselves.
So I think..No, I trust,
That I know I am who I am.
But that's just me.
I could say I'm unique,
Then walk past you in the street
You could see my face
And not even contemplate
My existence.
I might have served you your coffee.
Served you your Jagger-bombs
Taken money from your palms
And exchanged it
For slabs of affordable fashion
Like polyester steaks
In brown paper bags.
And still you don't know Me
I'm just some guy.
So if my brother from another mother is
Just some other guy next to me
Is he average too?
The Queen is just another human being
With a shiny hat that gleams
So why is she deemed superior?
For something to be average,
It must first be compared to the shared masses.
Seeing as your a part of this sea of information
It's your prerogative to change the ships destination.
What's special in this world is our potential
We're all one in a million,
Divided by seven billion
But my actions in life could influence your children's.
This doesn't happen supernaturally
'Cus as these words speak in your own inner voice
I'm actually,
Influencing you now.
So on average, we're all unique.
But your lazy and weak
If you think
This makes you superior.
Just know your special,
And when you speak
I'm hearing you.
Or so society would tell me.
Academically, physically, socially.
