The Splitting Crime
Our pulses rush
as I look at him
He pets my bush
along the eye's rim
As I look at him
I see unease
along the eyes' rim
Don't worry, please!
I see unease
even in myself
Don't worry, please
Think of something else
Even in myself
lies the dark sorrow
Think of something else
*not the dark 'morrow
Lies! The deep sorrow
He wasn't the one! He left
*not the dark marrow
The murder he hadn't done
He wasn't the one. He left
the night of the 7th. For
the murder he hadn't done
Now 20 years must be spent
The night of the 7th, for
me he was searching
Now 20 years must be spent?
While I am left yearning?
Me he was searching
while I am lost in thought,
while I am left yearning
At least we have tonight
While I am lost in thought
he whispers, "Please rest
at least we have tonight"
He gently cups my breast
He whispers "Please, rest"
His eyes meet mine
He gently cups my breast
If only were it not for time
His eyes meet mine
We relish in each other
If only were it not for time
we'd feel each other forever
We relish in each other
and forget tomorrow's crime
We'd feel each other forever
Alas, he fills me one last time
And forget tomorrow's crime
Our bushes become one bush
Alas, he fills me one last time
as our pulses rush
