Late Nights & Heartbreak

As I lay down on the same bed we used to kiss on
I wear the shirt you pulled slowly off your back
I read the poems you wrote me
You promised you'd never break me, yet
You broke me
But I'm a fool who thought love was as innocent as two white doves
I've cried so much I think I've ran out of tears!
I can only laugh at myself for thinking a man like you
Would settle for a woman like me
A woman like me with scars down her back
And burns on her chest
And tear stains on her face
As I lay down on the same bed we used to kiss on
I whimper your name
My face is burning, I'm shaking!
I lost my heart, I lost my soul
You stole them from me, you walked away with my stuff!
You walked away and dragged my insides with you
But I'll love again
Maybe in another life, what is left of our souls will love again
We'll kiss again, on this bed!
For now, I hope you find the love of your life
And I hope she walks away with all your stuff
I hope she walks away and drags your insides with her.
