Long Lost Friend...
Its been a long while
Since we got to kick it and spend some time
Its easy to blame it on the day to day monotony of life
But harder still to admit to a neglected relationship
But before we plunge so deep
How have you been
I wanna say I miss you but I don't wanna seam so weak
I've always wondered about your well-being
Often Half heartedly reaching for the phone Its just my pride wouldn't let me
Oh word you been good
Yeah I'd say the same for me too
If you don't mind me asking you
The undertone in your voice raise an alarm bell or two
Okay I lie its more to do with what I've heard than what you've said
You know how the walls have ears and the streets speak among themselves
Word had it that you had a baby boy in the months gone passed
If I may, please accept my belated congrads
Please hear me out before you get mad
Here-say reached my ear without me having to ask
Just goes to show how much can happen so fast
I feel ashamed to call myself a friend
Oft times I sit back and recall when
I was cuffed in pipes, masked down to a hospital bed
Bearly alive being fed by an oxygen tank
Gunshot wounds still fresh in my flesh
I'm ashamed because you were there
A single women with no job driving all the way just to share
A scripture of hope and a few laughs
Those are moments I'll forever treasure
And never forget
I'm ashamed because when you needed a friend
I couldn't be there
And I'll forever curse myself
For the mismatch of compassion in our seismic life event
For what its worth I'm really truly sorry
I wish I could go back and rewrite the story
But I can't and now I've inherited shame for glory
When I really shouldve been a friend, I hope you accept my apology
For what its worth I know that
Your gonna make an amazing parent
Caring and compassionate- qualities You have in abundance, Most women lack
Maybe you can't see it in yourself
But believe me when I say your gonna be a success
But above all else I really wish I could make up for lost time
But I can't, and now I'm destined to carry my cross of shame till the end of time
Hope to see you soon again
I just had to get that off my chest
Take everything in and digest
When you ready, please respond back
Anyways I've got to go
Much love dear friend stay in touch though
So that this wedge between us never grows
Any bigger than it already is, so
Goodbye
