A Sad Story

The Water Spirit

There was once a Japanese prostitute,
with a complexion so fair, like winter snow.
A skin so smooth, envied by others,
and silky black hair,
as bright as the moon's glow.

She was sick,
and knew she didn't have much left to live.
All she wanted
was a night with the love,
she had come to receive.

She fell in love,
with her main client, who planned to elope.
Blinded by these emotions,
her heart would flutter
and she started hope.

She packed her things,
and silently bod a farewell to that life.
But then, her heart dried up,
poofed into sand,
as she discovered on her way, that he had a wife.

She stood outside the house,
shock and pain seeping into her bones.
She could see the newborn he held,
snowflakes that fell on her, melt,
but inside she was soo cold.

She ran away,
as far as her freezing joints would take her.
She stumbled,
and fell,
but that suffering inside was taking over.

She reached the river,
the current was so strong, equaling her despair.
She tried to wash off her shame,
and
those never ending tears.

Her body was in shivers,
her fingers were blue and numb.
Her mind persuaded her,
that no life is let to live,
and to the bliss she should succumb.

Closing her eyes,
She didn't feel the frostbite, as she fell into the river.
It engulfed her,
buried her,
and kept her soul within the shallow grave forever.
