When I was a small child
I fell in love with darkness
Hiding in the shadows, it
Sheltered me, offering safety
Covering the tracks of tears
I’m an adult now and I still
Love the night because i
Continues to protect me and
In the glow of the moonlight
Wetness glistens cheeks still
