Terrified

 

Will I grow cold and resentful
toward him
if, for the sake of our love,
I never hear
the pitter-pattering sound
that resonates within me?


Over time, will he
become distant and embittered
toward me
if I can't provide the same,
or will I lose him
to someone who can?


Anxiously looking forward,
my lifelines pull contradictorily.
How long until it all breaks?
When will
“we'll work it out”
stop working?
