Antagonist
I'm aware of what you've been through-
The dreaded pain of loss.
I know you're hurt and bleeding,
But so many lines have been crossed.
What gives you the right-
To put down and tear away?
To make them fear, to make them cry,
And cause them pain each and every day?
I'm aware of what you've seen-
Half your life fading away.
But that doesn't give you the right-
To say all those things you say.
To pin them up against the wall-
To judge them in every way.
You've worn the mask so well,
That your heart has fused it in place.
And I can only hope that you'll find a way-
To keep the pain, the anger at bay.
For it will only lead to your demise,
In the very near coming day.
The dreaded pain of loss.
I know you're hurt and bleeding,
But so many lines have been crossed.
What gives you the right-
To put down and tear away?
To make them fear, to make them cry,
And cause them pain each and every day?
I'm aware of what you've seen-
Half your life fading away.
But that doesn't give you the right-
To say all those things you say.
To pin them up against the wall-
To judge them in every way.
You've worn the mask so well,
That your heart has fused it in place.
And I can only hope that you'll find a way-
To keep the pain, the anger at bay.
For it will only lead to your demise,
In the very near coming day.
