pronounced dead...
you are sad because
the cut flowers in the vase
had shrivelled and died...
I thought they had died
when they were cut and were just
unaware of it...

You know that
I'm not able to cut
the garden flowers?
They surely ARE aware of
being cut and hurt.
You somehow poem-ed my
flowercut phobia.

I'm with you on the not cutting,
Chi...the poem centres on them
still giving the appearance of
life, a healthy bloom, for a time
in the vase..:)

O..such sad ironic truth, my Friend!
Unfortunately, i have always associated cut flowers with death...
When i was around 5, or so, my family lost several relatives in a very short time span, and i can remember ALL those endless flower arrangements that were sent....and several months later, while accompanying my Gram to her friend's home,i noticed all the countless vases of(wilting) flowers.
I asked Gram:"Who died?"
To which, she replied,
"Hush, child--the flowers."
Thanks for sharing...and for a cherished memory! :))

We have a living Xmas tree in a pot
which we bring in for the festive
season, had it 3 years now but it's
getting a little big, guess we'll have
to plant it in the garden..:)

As is often the case,
your poems can be read
on multiple levels,
which in my book
makes it a fab poem.
love it, Paul!
