Sleep in peace
The moon Is high in the night sky
All the stars glisten
The day has come to an end
Night time has drifted over the land
Rest now, sleep in peace
May precious babies
My sweet little ones
Sleep in peace
And dream
Dream sweet dreams
Of mommy and daddy
And lots of fun
Rest peacefully
Rest knowing we love you
Forever and always
Tomorrow brings a new day
Of learning and fun
Excitement and laughter
But tonight
Sleep
Peacefully sleep
And know
Mommy and Daddy love you
So now sleep in peace

Although I'm reading this in the afternoon, I can look out the window and picture the scene depicted here. Such a simple idea to sleep peacefully, yet for many it eludes us. Using a child or children as the subject I think really added another level of emotion and a sense of innocence. Children look so content when sleeping, while adults forgot how to sleep so soundly. The reassurance that "Mommy and Daddy love you" is all a child needs to be at peace.

Thank you for your comment! I did write this with my children in mind. They do look so peaceful as they sleep. Not a care in the world.
