Creature of The Dark
From the shadows,
A pair of eyes,
Loom like the gallows,
To seal your demise.
You cannot stop your heart from racing,
An entire body constantly shaking,
The soul feels as if it's ever pacing,
While your form is unceasingly quaking.
An icy chill grips your core,
As if it were a knife thru butter,
You want to scream for no more,
But your words and voice seem separated from each other.
Your life appears to flash before you,
A one-time novel now turned short story,
The scene so much like deja-vu,
The fear within you so graphic and gory.
The darkness consumes from all around,
It's claws are ever-reaching,
An attack of silence devoid of all sound,
Except for the sinister banshee screeching.
You are frozen with your mouth agape,
Like a deer caught in a bright light,
Unable to move and no way to escape,
Head to toe overwhelmed with fright.
Helpless and hopeless is how you feel,
The difference from daylight so vastly stark,
Your courage broken and forced to kneel,
To the unseen creature of the dark.
A pair of eyes,
Loom like the gallows,
To seal your demise.
You cannot stop your heart from racing,
An entire body constantly shaking,
The soul feels as if it's ever pacing,
While your form is unceasingly quaking.
