Beautiful Lies

Sweet whispering in an ear that
listens with pleasure.
Wings that carry in the breeze, soft
grass sways to the promise
of rain.

A promise being made that will
soon be broken.
Crystal shines in the sunlight, as leaves
are being plucked from trees.
Forbidden words are said that will
soon mean nothing.

Bells toll as flowers are swept from
their vases.
Years to go will those words carry them.
Beautiful dresses, tailor-made, with a veil of
silk that covers a pink glow
of blush.

A reddened cheek that tells
a story.
Heavy silence fills the burdened air.
Words unspoken never leave the
room, spoken words hang from the guilt upon
the crown of the head.

Beautiful lies were once whispered in an
ear that no longer listens.
