shadows
they are driving by my house.
asking where I live
and you're just sliding around questions
while light carves the contours of your face
you are riddled with shadows
taller than the rest
but you wear your dark side and crimes
on the sleeve of your super hero t-shirt...
and your hands haven't even touched eternity,
they have yet to caress my careful skin
and slate caked heart.
you were born just the time that he died...
and I found my first place to hide
in the smell of death and I seek it
in everything alive I taste his death
I'm waiting for this all to pass
but I know what it is I have to do.
your kiss is just a prelude to goodbye
I promise corpses never cry.
