Conquering Inner Demons
Part of me wants to cast away my darkness in entirety
Yet I still cling to its weakening shred of wickedness
Shadows dancing on the stone walls in the lair of my mind
Softly like a flickering fire, no longer the raging ruthlessness
It falls and lies on the cold ground like a fallen exotic dancer
Cast aside like a sad, forgotten, and overused concubine
Staring up at me with bloodshot, soulless, yet piercing eyes
Almost pleading to remain in my refuge, to be called mine
If Satan was a serpent, then I am his challenging adversary
Paying penance to the stories of ancient Egyptian gods
Bast, queen of cats, was destined to slay the serpent,
Apophis, the snake of chaos... Darkness, red of blood, BOW
I conquer the inner demon within me that's lurking in fear
I command the fire of hell, a demon queen of my own right
Still tolerant to sunshine and beautiful things, still human
Yet dominating my inner darkness, and making room for light
