Take Me Back
Take me back to a time when 'twas fine
Tire swings from a tree as wind signs my face
Free to be ourselves, worry-free and calm
Back to the tree houses; ‘secret’ and unseen
A trench in a tree for soldiers against the enemies
Water guns and grenades in hand
Makeshift slingshots; our back- up plan
Oh! To see again tubes in the creek
Children wading for crawdads
Hidden inside the crevice of the park
Where we snuck smokes
Quick runs to Kramer’s Market
Ice cold bottled soda; homemade jerky
To feed our taste buds
Take me back to a time when ‘twas fine
Tire swings from a tree as wind signs my face
Free to be ourselves, worry-free and calm
Back to the tree houses; ‘secret’ and unseen
A trench in a tree for soldiers against the enemies
Water guns and grenades in hand
Makeshift slingshots; our back- up plan
Oh! To see again tubes in the creek
Children wading for crawdads
Hidden inside the crevice of the park
Where we snuck smokes
Quick runs to Kramer’s Market
Ice cold bottled soda; homemade jerky
To feed our taste buds
Take me back to a time when ‘twas fine
