Jealous Angels Whisper Her Name
(PART SIX OF THE TRAGEDY OF THE GOD-CROSSED LOVERS)
Within the courts of those most high
Are seraphim libertines with jealous eyes.
With open ears and wiggling tongues
Are whispered secrets beyond the light
Of the lover of a another
Outside the arms of god.
Little fetishes inside the glass
Seeking acceptance of a test to pass
With false praise of beauty.
Upon the truth they will trespass
On the glowing falling star
Banished from Heaven.
Wicked little lies
Spread between the rights,
Given by the Lord.
Made up absolutes
Trading with the truth,
Removed her from the board.
Is it possible
That she was present
When Troy had fallen?
Helen in the light
Stands against the night
Could she hear my calling?
Tales of her beauty traveled the planes
From Heaven to Hell and everywhere in between.
Armies arose to spy her flawless skin
Bathing nude the rivers, never seen.
Unknown modesty begets her
As she watches the boys at play.
A thousand ships launched for her
To Troy and beyond the murk
Of the blackened waters of the Styx.
Could she see me where I lurk,
Deep into the shadows,
Searching for her sign?
I can hear them now
Softly asking how
She influenced the gain
Of splendid power
From her fallen tower,
Jealous angels whisper
Her name.
Faith shines more brightly than I
Standing against the tide
Of envy, pride and hate.
Immunity to all the lies
Of the devil’s whore
Spread upon the floor.
Through centuries she has endured
As a dove among the herds,
A celebrity they have embraced.
She’s a light that tends to serve
To push away the dark
And keep the wolves at bay.
I can hear them now
Softly asking how
She influenced the gain
Of splendid power
From her fallen tower,
Jealous angels whisper
Her name.
All will celebrate her face
Shining with the grace
Even featured in deleted scenes.
Faith will take her place
In the ranks of human race
And live forever.
