Fire on the water
Looking out over the rising sea
watching as the water comes to meet me
gray water rising to meet the land
crashing against a wall of stone
standing gazing from the heights above
looking down at the cool night sea
calming in it's midnight glow
breathing in the salty air
the night coming to a close
the rising fire ignites the skies
relieving the gray of the night
burning light jumping over the water
burning endlessly as far the eye can see
reaching up and looking out
seeking serenity
walking down to meet the sea,
let the waves wash over me
wash away the uncertainty
bathing in the sea of fire
orange turns to blinding light
scorching heat the waves turning blue
seeking shelter from the sky
looking for a place to hide.
The light begins to fade.
setting the sky on fire a different kind
the flames have faded to a shade of red
pastels in the evening light
bathing in the glow that starts the night
letting the day slip away for night to start again
the cycle repeating, unending
a fire in the sea.
