Taken Love
I give you me,
something never given in a way that I have chosen to give you.
I give you love,
the one thing that I longed for but was never given without a price.
I give you my soul,
showing you my inner self, the vulnerable side of me.
I give you the opportunity,
to know loyalty, truth and true commitment.
I give you my heart,
with your name etched on it...but most of all,
I give you a choice...
What will you give me?

The bond of love seeks reciprocation. It feels as if the basis of this poem is born from a place of conditions and used car handshakes. That may not be your intention, but that's how the poem come across to me.

It came from a place of love and pain. The most unconditional love you can give your partner. And the pain of feeling like a fool because you realize you put yourself out there to be used. Giving of yourself without condition, does not mean that you should settle.
