What Lies Beyond
I can smell the Eleven breath
Coming from the portal
Beyond the view of mortals
Of humanity it is bereft
A doorway to another world
Where they are so noble
And the trees there are mobile
The shifting colors in a swirl
A place of endless flagons
And a succulent feast
Of a slow roasted beast
Hosted by Gods and dragons
There stands a dire ranger
With a sword in hand
Protector of man
The woods, they reek of danger
From away they look so tame
Whispering swaying trees
Giving voice to the breeze
Do I dare enter this plane?
In my mind there is strife,
To place myself in peril.
What if this a herald
Of the makings of a new life?
I pass under the bridge.
Through a liquid mesh
Like a lover’s caress.
And stand before fantasy’s edge.
